What You Need to Bring When Buying or Leasing a Car

Especially for first timers, figuring out what to bring to the dealership when you’re buying or leasing a car can be a big source of stress, but it doesn’t have to be. In reality, there isn’t that much to bring, so don’t sweat it! You probably have most of what you need in your wallet or lying around the house already.
First off, you need your license and insurance card. If the address on your driver's license is incorrect, you will need 2 proofs of residency. In addition, don’t forget your cell phone, because you’ll need to add your new car to your insurance before you can drive it home. Some lenders will require personal references, pay stubs, and proof of residency. It may be helpful to have these with you, just in case.
If you’re trading your current car, please bring the title and registration. If you have a payoff, having the bank information and account number will help to make the process smoother and faster.
